Q. Is Sailtrac free?
A. Yes! Every feature and function you currently see on the site is FREE. Sailtrac is supported solely by advertising. In the future, Sailtrac may add paid Premium Services, but all the features and functions currently available on the Sailtrac site will always remain FREE!

Q. How do I add color, graphics, & photos to my Public Profile page?
Adding color, graphics, and photos to your content pages is easy and requires only a basic knowledge of HTML (the programming language used to create web pages on the Internet). Simply go to "Edit Profile" and enter the desired HTML coding where appropriate. If you do not know HTML, you can reach out and make a new friend by asking someone who has color, graphics, and/or mapping on their Profile page how they did it. People on Sailtrac are a community of sailors and as we all know, the code of the sea requires giving assistance when needed, so just ask! This is a great way to meet new people!

Q. How do I change my personal account information?
A. You may change your name, age, boat name and/or add to the information on your Profile through "Edit Profile." Start by clicking on "My Account" in the top navigation menu from any Sailtrac web page. Once on your personal home page, click on "Edit Profile," appearing in the upper left portion of the page. You will be taken to your "Edit Profile" page where you may edit or add information from the following categories: name, crew, contact information, vessel information, intended travel destinations, reasons you have cast off the dock lines, other Sailtrac accounts who you are looking for, your headline, about you, interests, background, lifestyle, and planned course of travel.

Q. How do I change my email address?
A. Your e-mail address is found under "Account Settings." Start by clicking on "My Account" in the top navigation menu from any Sailtrac web page. Once on your personal home page, click on "Account Settings," appearing in the upper left portion of the page, next to your picture. You will be taken to your "Account Settings" page. Once there, type in the new email address you want to use and click on "Change". You will receive an email to your old address asking you to confirm the email change. Follow the link in the email and confirm the code and your email will be changed. If you do not have access to your old email account, please Contact Us with the old email address, the password for the account and the email address you want to change it to.

Q. How do I change my default picture?
A. Go to your upload/change photos page. Each image you have uploaded will have a button next to it labeled "Set to Default" click the button the image you wish to make your main profile image.

Q. I'm trying to upload an image, and I am getting an error message... what is wrong?
A. First, make sure the image you are attempting to upload is in one of the formats Sailtrac accepts (.gif, .jpg). Next, make sure the filename is simple with no funny characters. Under Sail.jpg" is a good filnename, but "Me at the dock! Drinking some Coors~~.jpg" is probably not going to work. Next, make sure the filename is less than 600k. We do not allow images over 600k. If none of these things work, it's possible that the image is corrupted. Luckily there is an easy solution. Go to http://www.download.com/ and download a copy of the software program IrfanView. IT'S FREE and you can use it to resize images so they're less than 600k, or resave images that may be corrupted. Once you have downloaded and installed IrfanView, simply run the program, open your .gif, or .jpg image, and resave it as another version (example: in IrfanView, open file named pic01.jpg, and resave it as pic01b.jpg). Then, simply return to Sailtrac and upload your newly resaved image.

Q. I'm trying to upload a GPS Latitude and Longitude, or a text journal entry and I am getting an error message... what is wrong?
A. First, make sure the text file you are attempting to upload is in one of the formats Sailtrac accepts (___________). (More to comeÉ)

Q. How do I block a user?
To block a user you will need to visit that user's profile click ÔBlock User' (found underneath ÔSend Message'). Clicking ÔBlock User' will block that user. Blocked users can still view your profile, but they cannot send you a message or communicate with you. There is no way to prevent someone from seeing your profile.

Q. Where do I report Inappropriate Content?
If there is something on the profile itself that is inappropriate, look at the bottom of the profile and click on the link ÔReport Inappropriate Content'.

If the content is an image uploaded to the user's image gallery, click on the "Report this Image' link that is under the image.

Q. How do I report an error?
Please check the Updates Page to ensure that the error you experienced is not already a known issue. If you do not see it listed, please contact us with a description of the error you received and what you were doing in when you received the error.

Q. I can't create an account.
Please Contact Us describing how far into the account creation process you were able to complete as well as the error you received.

Q. I can't log in to my account.
Please verify that you are logging in with the correct password and username. We also recommend clearing your browser's cookies and temporary internet files and then try logging in again. Note: Mac users should use Safari or Firefox for the best browsing results. If you have already tried the methods above, check to make sure your profile still exists by finding your profile on the site. Also, look for comments you posted on your friends' profiles. If you cannot find your profile, it may have been deleted. Sailtrac may delete profiles if they violate the site's Terms and conditions. You cannot retrieve a deleted account. You can Contact Us.

Q. I forgot my username.
Your username for Sailtrac.com can be reset. Visit the Look Up User ID below the Login Box on the Sailtrac Main Page. Take Me There

Q. I forgot my password.
Retrieve your password by clicking Take Me There and following the instructions. You will need to enter the email address that we have on file for your account. We'll then email your password to that address.

Q. How do I delete my account?
If you wish to permanently terminate your Sailtrac account, start by clicking "My Account" in the top navigation menu from any Sailtrac web page. From your personal home page, click the "Account Settings". From your "Change Account Settings" page, click the "Cancel Account" link, found just above the "My Account Settings". On the "Cancel My Account" page, click the "Cancel My Account" button. Check the email account that you used to create your account. Follow the instructions in that email to delete your account. Keep in mind, cancelling your Sailtrac account will PERMANENTLY REMOVE all of your profile information from Sailtrac, including your photographs, video, journal entries, mapping, and your personal address book. This information cannot be restored. You may re-register with your current email address after canceling, but you will need to rebuild your personal network from scratch.

Q. How do I set my profile to private?
The privacy option under "Account Settings' Ð "Privacy Settings'. Please note that this is a public website, and you should be careful about what information you put on the internet. Please check out our Safety Tips (Attached at the end of this document) section for more information about safety on the internet!

Q. I think someone compromised my account, I can't log in, and things look different!
First, try to retrieve the password for your account Take Me There. Once you get your password, you can log into your account and change the password to your account. Make sure the password for your Sailtrac account is never the same for your email account!

Next, make sure that someone didn't leave a comment on your page that could have altered the page. Please click here to read more about that situation.

If you can't log into your account at all, and you aren't receiving the password for your account, we will need to validate you so we can verify you are the owner of the profile.

Q. Bulletins are being posted through my account that I didn't post!
